Miami
Shores Aquatic Center Residents
of Miami Shores and their guests are enjoying the new Aquatic
Center that offers a fantastic kiddy pool and activity center...along
with a competition size pool. In addition, swimming
lessons, swim team competitions, water exercise classes, and
free swims are also available. It's located on Biscayne
Boulevard, just north of the Miami Shores Country Club.

Performing Arts Theater
The Shores Performing Arts Theater, located in downtown Miami Shores, is currently enjoying a renaissance as The PlayGround Theatre for Young Audiences.

Brockway
Memorial Library
The community's library-located on the northern end of downtown
Miami Shores houses over 50,000 books, 120 current magazines
and newspapers, and over 2,500 audios and videos. Internet
access is also available from a network of computers in the

LOCAL
EVENTS |
WINTER
December is always a festive month in the Shores, kicking off
the holiday season with the Tree Lighting Ceremony and
a visit from Santa Clause. The Recreation Department also
hosts a Christmas Caroling Hayride, spreading good cheer
throughout the Village. The Miami Shores Recreation Department
and Mayor's Community Task Force sponsor an annual Unity
Day Fair in March, where neighbors enjoy food, music and
games in an unabashed display of community pride. Each
year, residents look forward to an annual Mayor's Ball,
whether it be a traditional "ball" or a casual luau
on the pool deck, this gala represents the social event of
the year - raising money for community projects. Watch
for notices in your Village Newsletter.
SPRING
During Miami Shores' spring season, kids break loose for the
annual Easter Marshmallow Drop which takes place on
the Saturday before Easter, and Veterans are honored at the
Memorial Day Celebration held each May at Memorial
Park.
The Fine Arts Commission, in
conjunction with the Village's Recreation Department, hosts
a series of Spring-time Concerts in the Park, featuring a
variety of musical talents.
SUMMER
Everyone is invited to a fun-filled day at the Country Club
for the Fourth of July Picnic that ends with a spectacular
fireworks display.
Also in July, kids will be sure
to enjoy the Recreation Department's annual Splash &
Bash featuring a sleepover at the Community Center complete
with a pool party and movie.
FALL
The Fall season gets a boost with the annual Dive In Theatre
at the Aquatic Center, complete with a movie and popcorn.
