Miami Shores

The Village Beautiful

Miami Shores is an in-town village, with a quiet way of life and small-town atmosphere. Located just north of Miami on beautiful Biscayne Bay, the municipality was established in 1932 and called “The Village Beautiful”.

Residents and visitors can escape the fast-paced South Florida lifestlye to the more leisurely life at Village-owned facilities, including golf and tennis at the Country Club; swimming at the Aquatic Center; and year-round athletic facilities and affordable, extra-curricular classes at the Recreation Center.

The Village is also a center for high-quality education, with its Miami-Dade County local schools.

Both Miami Shores Elementary, (Kindergarten – 5th grade) and Doctors Charter School (middle and high school, 6-12 grades) provide highly-rated education. Horace Mann Middle School, (6-8 grades) is nearby in El Portal and the home school for some Shores’ neighborhoods. Barry University, named one of “America’s Best Colleges” by Forbes magazine is also located within the Village.

An easy commute to business centers in both Dade and Broward counties, the Shores northeast Miami-Dade County location provides easy access to South Florida’s major expressways, beaches, sports and entertainment attractions.
